Social workers, social care practitioners, local authorities and NHS trusts may think they know the Care Act 2014 inside out, but case law and complaints to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman over the last few years indicate otherwise.

Meanwhile, the numbers of safeguarding concerns received by councils and the number of section 42 enquiries are rising year on year.
